Smile Actiontec R3010UW wireless router - HELP

hi,

i got given a wireless router by my friend as i am hoping to hook my WII upto the internet.

when i install the Wireless router, everything is fine, everything gets detected and i get an 198.xxx.x.x ip. when i open up IE / firefox i cannot access the router settings, but 20secs ago it said status OK. i do not run any firewalls, and i have avast anti-virus. while i cannot access the settings, the internet also doesn't work. i have read somewhere to input "start.ntl" in my system and register the router, however i don't see how this would stop me accessing any of my router settings.

one small note, i managed to blow (somehow) my router plug fuse, so i am using my printer cable as it's the same sort of connection. could this be a power problem?

if you need any other info please let me know
