Does anyone have any idea what price it will be sold at the begining?
Do you have any idea what games will be available at launch or near to launch?
Any idea if mario kart and classic mario type games are going to be made for it?
Any idea if it goign ot standard red laser dvd, blu-ray or hd-dvd?

Re: Nintendo Wii
Price: Around $200 apparently - so probably under £200 - maybe even as low as £150, but a price should be announced soon and release is defiently this year presumably around the same time as the PS3.
Launch Games - Around 17 including Zelda and Mario
Mario - Mario is defiantly back with "Super Mario Galaxy" - also all the old Mario games will be download-able - similar to xbox live arcade.
Format - Standard DVD, as the console wont have any HD functionality- i think it will also have support for Gamecube Game.

Re: Nintendo Wii
The good thing about nintendo is that they have nicer launch price compared to other consoles.
I'd say it would be around £179 and at a maximum £199.
There are quite a few games set to come out including Zelda, complete new SuperMario Universe game, new Sonic game "Sonic Wildfire", etc.
No more silly extra charactars, this is supposedly a return to quality for Sonic games.
Also a new First person shooter, Red Steel is on the way and a new racing game too.

Re: Nintendo Wii
There's a post on El Reg that says it's gonna be priced at $220/£119/€174 when released in Japan... so I guess it depends how much we get screwed with the old 'exchange rate' scam.

T3 is reporting today that one of Nintendo's patents is for a microphone inside the controller. Leading to clues that it might be used in games/VOIP. Hats off to em if they managed to fit this inside too!

Taken from BBC:
"...The Wii will cost 25,000 yen or lower in Japan and $250 (£133) or less in the US..."

Re: Nintendo Wii
Tbh I don't think Nintendo actually screws us over the prices at all. The gamecube launch price was £130 which is very reasonable and most of their handhelds including the DS Lite is coming under £99.99!

Re: Nintendo Wii
Most places have missed the fact that the $250 would not include sales tax so we would also have to add VAT. Therefore £133 would translate to around £156. Therefore, I would expect a price of £160 in the UK.

Re: Nintendo Wii
Nintendo will properly want to keep under the £150 mark however. I mean £159.99 is a crap price tag compared with £149.99 .

True - was not the Gamecube supposed to be £159.99 when it was released but was then reduced to £129.99 ?
