Cisco will ditch the Linksys brand to bring all SMB and consumer gear under its single networking omnicorp banner.

Chambers opined: "The reason we kept Linksys' brand because it was better known in the US than even Cisco was for the consumer. As you go globally there's very little advantage in that."

I've heard of Linksys - I'd have thought that has a reasonable brand awareness. Commercial users will have heard of Cisco too.
As for omnicorp - who on earth are they

Re: Linksys brand - RIP
They are going to be branding everything Cisco.
Omincorp - just means everything under one brand. That brand being Cisco.

I think most of us will have heard of Cisco and instantly associate it with high quality devices. Good move imo.

Re: Linksys brand - RIP
This was a matter of time, they have been branding as Linksys by Cisco for a while. You know when that happens it is a matter of time before the original brand is dropped.

Re: Linksys brand - RIP
I thought it was good that commercial was Cisco and the majority of Linksys stuff was consumer. Not that I'm bothered as It's easy enough to see which is which.
[Edit] perhaps we spoke too soon Linky

Either way the presence of the decimal point 2 places to the right on the price tag would have been the main differentiating factor

Re: Linksys brand - RIP
I like the Cisco brand - although I don't like what the did with Linksys stuff - but the new logo looks bizarre.

Re: Linksys brand - RIP
Heard this was coming for quite a while and many products have had both cisco and linksys displayed on them.
It's a good thing as Cisco are well known too.
