5GHz and RSSI

This is not directly related to VM which is why i posted here instead.

I installed a program called inSIIDer and an option comes RSSI, now i just wanted to know if a lower or higher value is better. And how to improve it, as i get very weak signal in some of the rooms in my home.

My BT HH3 comes at -65 and my VM Superhub is about -33. My superhub is on the 5GHz band.

RSSI is received signal strength indicator, and higher is better as higher means you are receiving a stronger signal. While it's not the only factor in network performance, all else equal a stronger signal is almost better.

I should mention that's higher the the mathematical sense. i.e. -33 is higher than -77 even while the number itself after the minus sign is smaller.

If your HH3 and Superhub are next to each other and those are the readings you're getting, at least one of the two or your laptop's wireless card is broken.

thanks. the superhub is upstairs which is where the computer is with the inSIIDer installed, the HH3 is downstairs...

Ah, in that case that's a lot more reasonable. While I'd expect -15 to -25 in the same room, 5Ghz is usually about 10dB weaker anyway.
