If you are using the Download manager don't forget to click the box to auto-extract rar files Also there is an extension for chrome that lets you right click say a torrent link and choose to get the Synology to download it.
Theres a couple of community sources that if you add to the Synology package manager gives you a ton more apps you can install on it, such as Sickbeard/Couchpotato/web servers etc.
