Tremors is back in action. Deadline reports Syfy has ordered a pilot based on the 1990 Kevin Bacon film.
The original movie followed the inhabitants of Perfection, Nevada as they tried to fight off an invasion of predatory sandworms known as “graboids.” Bacon will reprise the role of Valentine “Val” McKee for the upcoming reboot.
Written by Andrew Miller, the Tremors series revisits the town of Perfection 25 years later as the graboids have returned, “and the town’s only hope for survival is Valentine McKee (Bacon), who beat them once. But to do it again he’ll have to overcome age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex.”
Now, this isn’t the first time Tremors has been adapted as a TV series. In 2003, the spinoff show Tremors: The Series ran on G4 for only one season. However, the Syfy pilot will be the first time Bacon has reprised his role since the original film.
From Bacon:
“This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting. I just got to thinking, ‘Where would this guy end up after 25 years?’ Andrew Miller has a fantastic take on it, and we hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks that have yet to discover it. Let’s kick some Graboid ass!”
Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
There's several new series coming along later this year or next.
Bright Set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves and fairies have been co-existing since the beginning of time. Bright is genre-bending action movie that follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward (Will Smith) and Jakoby (Joel Edgerton) embark on a routine patrol night and encounter a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it.
Stargate: Origins Young Catherine Langford embarks on an unexpected adventure to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save the Earth from darkness.
The Orville Set 300 years in the future, The Orville follows the adventures of a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth's interstellar Fleet. Facing cosmic challenges from without and within, this motley crew of space explorers promise to boldly go where no comedic drama has gone before.
The Gifted Teens Lauren and Andy are involved in an incident at their high school which reveals their mutual powers to the world, forcing their parents to flee their old lives in order to protect their children. The Strucker family goes on the run, but things are made even more complicated by the fact that Reed is a prosecutor in the district attorney’s office tasked with going after mutants, which is why his children hid their powers from him for as long as possible.
Star Trek: Discovery Set roughly ten years before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series, this show sees the Klingon T'Kuvma look to unite the 24 great Klingon houses, leading to a cold war between his race and the United Federation of Planets that involves the crew of the USS Discovery.
Marvel’s The Defenders Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal - to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets
I like the look of Bright so the post wasn't in vain and I'd never heard about it until now Generally always happy with Will Smith in an action but comedic role, lol'd at the opening sequence in the trailer.
