Re: Close Season Football Thread
didn't Rafa sign a 5 yr contract last year @ £20m? - therefore by my reckoning he's owed £16m to buy him out. Not sure £3m will do it!!

The board will probably banking on him wanting to go where he's guaranteed transfer funds and a lucrative remuneration/signing-on wedge. Doubt he's going to get any at Liverpool for a while.

In an ideal world he would be a man of principle and say "I failed to live to my promise of guaranteeing a top 4 finish. I don't deserve 16 million compensation", take the 3 million and go and manage Inter.

That's what I've heard too.
Before this happened I had also heard that Gerrard was going to leave in the summer as his relationship with his missus (I forget her name) had broken down. (I wont go into details on here).
Don't know what will happen with that now.

... yes I've possibly heard about the details you are referring to, however: bearing in mind the current financial malaise and the fact that the lad isn't getting any younger perhaps time to cash in. I suspect that some key ins and outs (moreso outs) will be dealt with before the long term management issue is addressed.

Alex curran was apparently sleeping with chris commons of derby county and gerrard has apparently got some 16 year old girl pregnant. All heresay as far as I'm concerned. We wait for confirmation either way....
