Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
The 'season ticket offer' is a good offer but its a shame the HD still carries the extra monthly premium. Sports (and Films) in particular benefit from HD but the overall cost is still more than i am prepared to pay so i am unlikely to take up the offer.
when i first heard about the 'season ticket' i tried to find some info and found this...
http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/v...-sports-lovers
You can imagine how excited i was when i read that -it indicated the bundle included HD and premier sports, racing and box nation.. now THAT would have been an offer too good to refuse.
I am not saying the sky sports season ticket is not a good offer because clearly it offers a substantial saving on the monthly price. But i still feel sports subscriptions are overpriced if you want all the channels and HD. Isnt it about time sky and virgin started to look at these HD premiums..if you have the Big Kahuna you are paying an extra £7 a month for watching 6 HD versions of sky sports channels . Not value in my eyes.
just going back to that link i posted- imagine you could pay up front or a sports package that had ALL the channels and in HD- £150 a year for that or maybe slightly more say £200 would be more reasonable. £200 a year to watch sports i think is a fairer price than the current levels and imagine what the increase in subscriptions would be.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
I have said before the season ticket is a stonking offer even just in SD imo.
I saved money going onto the Kahuna anyway, gained much much faster broadband and landline calls at weekends, and now have saved an extra packet on Sky Sports.
The 7HD charge is not just for Kahuna of course.
Also if, like me, you have all the Sky Movies in HD then the £7 is rather better value....

Premier League remains key battleground between BT Sport and Sky.

"Petter confirmed that those viewers who get BT Sport free would have to pay a top-up charge to watch the majority of those matches. That could clear the way for a strategy whereby BT customers get the main channels free but pay extra for a premium service – which could house the most attractive Premier League games."
So BT won the Champions League rights but it means BT Sports is going to get more expensive, even for those who get it free. SKY lost the rights but won't be putting down the price of their subscription. So from next year it's going to get even more expensive to watch what I currently already get from SKY and BT Sports. Whilst both companies are offering interesting packages and bundles when taking their sports channels, the actually cost to have both sets of channels without being part of some kind of promotional package or bundle is going to become sky high.
It's going to be about £55 per month to take both sets of channels in HD from next year

That was always going to happen. Only the deluded few could think that a price war to pay more money would help the customers.
I suspect I will choose to loose a few games, rather than pay more. Though offers might come.
Suspect next year I will watch both, depending on price, but year after, will wait to see who gets the most premier league rights, and just have that channel (whether BT or Sky)

Personally I preferred when SKY had all pay TV football rights, about 8 years ago, with international and European games featuring on free to air TV. Now we have a situation where there is 2 big pay TV players, with a fair split of attractive TV rights, with very little free to air football left. Now we're pretty much having to pay double the money to watch the same stuff we got from 1 provider and terrestrial TV. It can only get worse as bidding wars intensify. I reckon in 3 years time it'll cost about £70.00 per month to subscribe to both BT Sports and SKY Sports.
