Please stop adding to the cruel world of dolphin abuse .....
quote : Last week, we received word from a whistleblower that a dolphin named Dixie, who is exploited in SeaWorld's Discovery Cove "swim with dolphins" attraction in Orlando, gave birth to a stillborn infant. What's more, even though SeaWorld knew that Dixie was due to give birth, the park apparently did not have a veterinarian available for Dixie at any point during or after her labor. She was forced to endure this traumatic experience—and its aftermath—without proper care.

quote:"Swimming with Dolphins" and other types of dolphin encounters are springing up not only at marine parks but even at individual resorts.
There's no denying that these experiences are thrilling for kids (and adults too.)
Yet ethical issues swirl around even the best-run high-profile facilities. These top places contribute to a world-wide appetite for dolphin experiences: and copycat facilities around the world may operate with fewer scruples and less scrutiny.

I like dolphins with their cute little grins on their faces.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Been to group today which was great
I got given a eureka a4 (see here......
http://www.sensorytools.com/eureka.htm ) for more info.
Althought old it's apparently an amazing bit of kit.
Trouble is is it uses floppy discs so I'm in need of an external USB drive for my pc.
But as these things are still silly money it's was a very generous gift and a big thumbs up to my group for giving me it.

Nice. That sounds like a great group of people you get to spend time with.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Bit flabbergasted that my letter of 30g to my wife 4000 miles away in the US actually got there 2 days after shipping it (delivered by FedEx), having said that for £49 I'd have been a bit annoyed if it wasn't there by end-of-tomorrow.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Had my laser surgery, it was nothing. I really had nothing to be worried about. It was over in 5 minutes, no pain whatsoever and within 2 minutes my eyesight was crystal clear. Have to keep away from bright light for a day or so but other than that it's all good

Glad to hear that the surgery was so successful.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Well I'm happy and relieved to have finally tackled a job which I've been putting off for ages - removing and redoing the pointing of a section of crazy paving half way up the front steps to our house. It'd started cracking and lifting a few years ago but the excessive snow and ice last year finally did it and it had started to look a real mess. After attacking it with a club hammer and bolster I suddenly remembered that I'd bought a decent sized SDS drill some years ago so dug it out of the garage and set to work. What a difference!!! It only took 2-3 hours yesterday to remove all the old mortar and today I spent a similar amount of time repointing the slabs. Apart from a badly cut finger, courtesy of a buried piece of broken glass, all went well and dare I say that I am delighted with the results. I can now leave/enter the house without feeling any dread or shame....
