Exclamation How to connect my laptop and xbox with a netgear switch via a virgin media connection

Hey All,

I would just like to know if anyone could help me.

I currently use a virgin media connection for my internet use but i am only able to connect to 1 thing at a time.

I bought a netgear switch so that i would be able to connect to both my xbox and laptop and thought this would work but for some reason my xbox would still not connnect.

Please can someone help me.

Thanks

Why use a switch?, A router will do the job..

Modem to WAN
LAN to XBOX
Wireless To Laptop

Check the configuration of the switch that it actually supports WAN connections (your modem).

And if you could use proper English when you post, that would make your posts more readable. My $0.02.

No. You need a router, a switch will NOT work

A switch will not share the internet connection, for that you need a router. A switch will alow devices to talk to each other but it doesn't know which packets are destined for the internet apart from the first device that connects to the modem.

Also you are only allowed one device connected to the VM modem at a time, a router makes as many devices as you care to plug in appear as just one
