The first was good-ish, it just typically fell to the ongoing farce that is early access.
DayZ started this trend and besides getting constantly negative reviews nowadays, nothing has really been done about them receiving upwards of £30 million in sales for a game that is still far from being complete after 4 years. Largely down to the complete lack of meaningful updates.
On the other hand you have the likes of Rust which receives weekly meaningful updates.
It's a strange area is early access.
We're witnessing the biggest backlash on Microtransactions we've ever seen now though and hopefully that starts the ball rolling on the ongoing problem of Early Access/Paid Alpha/MTX games flooding the market.
