Can problems on upstream affect DL

Hello Folks,

I rang VM last week to complain of a slow broadband speed , they couldn't identify a fault.

I posted on the VM forums and they have advised today the following :

Quote:

I've located your details and there does appear to be an issue present concerning your equipment SNR upstream level that I'd like for an engineer to investigate.
Will this upstream issue be affecting the download speed's aswell ?

The Router stats are below for you

all looks fine to me. Downstream power is 3, snr is 40, upstream power is 39 ish with very few T3 or T4 timeouts.

It looks like there is an issue with one of the upstream channels you are bonding to (channel 2) but that isn't your fault. It is a shame that the forum team are going the long way around it. Instead of directly escalating it to networks they are going to send an engineer who is going to tell you he cant do anything and he will escalate it. The good news is that once escalated it normally gets fixed in 4 hours.

Have you tried rebooting the shub to see if it locks onto a different channel?

Cheers for your reply Maximus,

I've tried several reboots of the SHUB but it's keeping me on this channel , can the engineer when he comes put me on a different channel ?

Nope, they will be the only channels available to your area. Dont worry about it though, everyone will be having the same problem and it will be fixed in a jiffy. When is he coming round?
