Repairing an LED lightbulb.
Has anyone ever tried this?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kJFKDd...ggZm9pbA%3D%3D Hoping those who know more about such things can confirm if it's nonsense or correct. It does seem logical, similar to how if one bulb blew none of the other Christmas tree lights would work. |
Re: Repairing an LED lightbulb.
You must be kidding.
Way too much effort just to save a few £ on somthing that lasts for ages anyway. Also, you do realise you are over powering the remaining LEDs by cutting out one like that (given they are in series). The others will then have a shorter life (and likely run a little hotter/brighter before they burn out). |

It's interesting that you say that, I was thinking that it would be slightly dimmer as one of them was no longer providing light. Do you think it could be dangerous electrical safety or fire wise? |
Re: Repairing an LED lightbulb.
Home Bargains have been selling them for around £2 to £4, depending on power rating, for years. Our whole house is lit with them.

My electrician told me that people can now light up their whole house for what it used to cost to light one room. Night clubs have been using them for years for their lighting systems. |
Re: Repairing an LED lightbulb.
I've had all LED lights at home for the last 10 years (except one, see below).
I even replaced my two Fluorescent tubes with LED equivelents in 2015. They got replaced by LED spots in 2022, when I had the conservatory roof replaced. Before that I had mostly CFL bulbs. Bizarrely, I still have 1 old filament bulb, that probably gets used once or twice a year at most, I'm waiting to see how long it lasts. |

Unless you're sure of what you're doing leave electronic repairs to the experts.

Re: Repairing an LED lightbulb.
I have a Philips Hue colour bulb it was £50 and it's, but there's still a light although low.
I won't open it as it could cause a fire if I did something wrong. |
