Puzzling problem

I wonder if anyone here can answer a question to help me resolve my issue.

I have a home network consisting of 2 PCs, one of which is wired other is wireless and 2 wireless laptops. These are all networked using an ASUS RT-AC87U router using the latest Merlin firmware.

My problem is this, the wired PC keeps dropping off the network, u try and access the shared folders/drives or ping it etc and its not there, if you restart the PC all is well again until it happens again.

I have tried a different Ethernet port on both router and pc, i've changed the CAT 6 cables and gone through the permissions set for sharing and all seems fine but it just happens randomly.

anyone have any ideas?

Put everything on static IPs? Especially the PC that keeps dropping.

everything is set on static IP, every device from my PCs and laptops, to printers, tablets and phones.

Huh. I've never had a static (or non static) wired PC drop off. Erm....some network setting on the PC itself?

What OS are you using? I have just cured a problem with my main PC where it could run at 150 Mbits rather than 200. It turned out that updating the comms card drivers cured that. This was on Windows 10

Re: Puzzling problem

Could it be the "green ethernet" setting?

e.g. here

Re: Puzzling problem

All my systems are windows 10.

Wired PC is 10 Pro, others are 10 Home.

I will see if the green ethernet setting will do anything.

A friend gave my husband an Android 4 Prestiqio, When cleaned up with what they had on it. We set it up, When we have it in the same room as my router, I can send and receive emails, but it will not allow me to listen to You tube, it says the browser is not suitable for Google, When we take it in another room the internet keeps keeps fading and it cuts out,

Is it just too old and out of date or can we buy a booster plug to help the connection, I am with VM, Any advice
