Years ago a local likely lad, now deceased, broke into a factory by forcing open a skylight and then dropping into the room below.
He then found the room to be locked, he had nothing with him to open it as he had left his housebreaking implements on the roof and there was nothing in the room to enable him to climb on and get back out of the skylight.
I think he spent the weekend trapped in that room and was nabbed by the cops when the factory opened for business on the Monday. :)

To be fair the odour in the house was probably stopping them looking too closely. I'd imagine the house was in a hell of a mess with rotting food lying about and with only a report of someone just not being seen for a while, no proof he was in the house, I can see exactly why this happened.

I think this qualifies as well:

Quote:

Thieves in Manchester dug a 100ft (30m) underground tunnel to get to a cash machine.

The theft happened overnight on Monday 2 January at Blockbuster in Fallowfield Shopping Precinct.

A similar plot was foiled in the same area in 2007, and police believe it may have been carried out by the same gang.

Thieves dug the tunnel directly under the cash machine and used machinery to cut through more than 15in (38cm) of concrete to steal the money.

Det Sgt Ian Shore from Longsight CID said: "In all my years of service, I've never seen anything as elaborate."

The passageway was about 4ft (1.2m) tall
However, the thieves only escaped with about £6,000 - because the machine had not been re-filled after the New Year bank holiday.
I wonder how that works out as an hourly wage. Must be less than minimum wage. I also wonder how much they were expecting to take. There can't be that much in the average cash machine to make digging a 30 meter tunnel worthwhile?

Hourly rates pretty poor...

Officers believe the people responsible could have spent up to six months digging the passageway

A quick Google indicates that they hold between £5k and £120k, apparently.

Thick as thieves or thick as the Taliban

A Taliban commander has been captured after marching up to a checkpoint brandishing a wanted poster with his own face and demanding the $100 reward for his own arrest.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...n-capture.html

Wonder if he got the reward...

Perhaps the allies ought to seize on this 'cultural difference', start leafleting Taliban strongholds with 'Wanted for Reward' posters and see the hordes drop their weapons and turn themselves in.......

I have no problem paying the rewards, 100 bucks is well cheap to round these clowns up, wonder what would happen if we started adding dead or alive on them though

Drugs are bad. M'kay? :dunce:

Quote:

A HUGE £20,000 haul of cocaine has been recovered by delighted detectives – after a dozy drugs baron shopped HIMSELF to cops.
It’s believed that the drugged-up dealer ended up so paranoid after sampling his own product that he dialled 999 and claimed a group of knife-wielding thugs were trying to batter down his door.
But, when police arrived at his home in Renfrew, all they found was the 18-year-old man hyperventilating while holding a white plastic bag filled with the Class A powder.
And, to make matters worse for the sky-high suspect, it seems the angry mob outside his door was just a figment of his drug-induced imagination.

Police in Silicon Valley got a little bit of a result, thanks to Apple's find my ipad service.

They used said service to track down a reported stolen ipad. When they got an address, they went to the apartment, knocked and were rather surprised to be let in without question.

They were even more surprised when they found not only the iPad, but 780lb of Crystal Meth (street value: $35m) just laying around the apartment.

Another contender:

On February 16, at around 10am, he entered the Paddy Power store wearing a balaclava, pointed a gun at the manager and demanded “his money” back.

He addressed the manager by his first name during the robbery, and was handed £3,000 before fleeing the scene.

Having lost around £10,000 while gambling at the bookmakers the previous day, he was quickly identified as the suspect and arrested on suspicion of robbery in Burnhill Road, Beckenham, at 4.40pm.
