Hi Can Someone Help with This Virgin Media Cabinet Enquiry Please

Hi all not sure this is the correct place to list this but I noticed couple days ago a grey coloured small cabinet what I think is a virgin cabinet??? (see pic) was installed on the road close to the bottom of my street. There is also another big plinth with a cabinet yet to be set in place which is around twice or three times the size of this cabinet in pic (see pic).

I had a peek in the plinth and there was ducting inside. There is two big white covers on the floor saying CATV in front of it.

Question is what is it and what does it mean for me if anything?

Will it mean I will be able to get virgin media in my street and will it also mean it will be fttp type setup?

Finally if this is the case based on the current state of play how long does it take from this stage?

Thanks in advance

It looks like they are bringing virgin to your area, the smaller cab is the cab properties get connected to, the larger cab is the main one connected back to virgin's head end.

As for where it is going to be installed, you may be able to follow the scar line in the footpath, on the older installations they put in little black access points outside the properties, i have no experience on the new fttp setup so im not sure how that works

You might be able to find out what's planned at https://www.virginmedia.com/cablemystreet

What town are you in?

Hi I am in fenham, Newcastle upon Tyne.

I have registered my interest in the past

When I selected link above and put in my postcode it came up with

We are still building in that area. The small cabinet is actually a power cabinet, the larger cabinet is the VHUB ( this is an FTTP build area).

What does FTTP build mean?

Yes but what I meant is how would it work exactly and timescale roughly?

Also here is a crude drawing of the site plan would my house be covered do you think?

Blown fibre micro duct will be run from each property to a cabinet, using narrow trenching where possible. Cabinets are all installed first and all trunk routes then the narrow trenching for access routes begins.

I would guess at least 6 months. There's still a lot of work to do.
