In cycling this is known as the n+1 rule.

While the minimum number of <insert object of desire here> one should own is three, the correct number is n+1, where n is the number of <insert object of desire here> currently owned.

Cheers Nash, got so used to the old mattress (Silentnight no roll together) that we didn't realise just how lumpy and squeaky it had become. Did you know that if you keep a mattress for 10 years it doubles in weight with the amount of bed mites yuk? This new one is sooo comfy! :)

Most recent buy, new lawnmower, our old Flymo gave up the ghost during first cut this year.

In our case one of the 'advantages' of these mattresses, as Mr Tink is always frozen. They seem to reflect back the heat, we now don't have an electric blanket and only a summer weight duvet, also no roll together...... bliss............as long as he keeps his distance lol!:D:D:D

Actually I bought it last week, but it's the last interesting item I bought..

I bought a 240 Gig Samsung 840 series SSD.

Windows 8 now boots so fast it takes almost as much time for the PC to complete it's boot up self test as it does to boot Windows.

Not a luxury purchase for us Osem, but we have decided to replace the entire flooring on the ground floor, the carpets we inherited from the previous owners 15 years ago, have seen us through trials and tribulations with our old dog. Only problem is I am left with the task of painting all the skirting boards, radiators and walls (Mr T is not a handyman). But hopefully it is going to be well worth the effort.

Agreed, but directtvs are only a few miles away and their instore prices are so much cheaper. The TV I got for my mum is £749.98 online and £689.98 in store. Sadly Richy wanted £749. Both offered the free 5 year cover. The stand can you believe was cheaper at Currys . We did look at your model, but she didn't want 3D.

Well you cant grumble at that price, and as for the 3D it was just a bonus, for me it was all about the quality, and this particular model ticked all my boxes and more besides. I first saw this TV being demo'd in my local Curries, and said to the Mrs, "Your looking at our next TV". :D

Does it have a yellow or red sticker over the barcode saying "Reduced! Was £4, now 40p!"?

Asda's reductions always look like real bargains compared the ones I see in Tesco. Tesco have ones like Reduced, was £2.58, now only £2.12 and other such seemingly pointless ones. At least try and fool customers a bit by reducing it 60p and making it appear a quid cheaper!

Had some good deals in the Tesco express today on a few items. Easy to spot the good ones as there were big gaps on the shelves where the stock should be.

There is a specific logic behind the pricing of Asda's reductions so I'm just trying to establish whether or not it was an actual official 'reduction'.

Yes, they self-seed, so they come back. You can but them as seeds or as plants. This is the time of your to but them as plants. However, as implied above, the nicer varieties can get a bit pricey (as with most garden plants).

Very similar to the one I have being delivered.

http://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-350...ver/p231740124

My previous laptop died last week after trying to incinerate me and, as it was only a year old and I liked it, I have opted for virtually the same laptop but with i7 and a larger HD. I can't wait to get my hands on it and get it set up as I like.

I have a feeling I will be installing something on the lines of Classic start 8 though as my trial of Windows 8 was spoiled by the lack of a start option.

Very nice indeed jo and our last laptop lasted for at least 6 years and luckily we put some money away for a new one several years ago and it was just a matter of time before it died a gracious death and sadly this happened about a month ago and the thing is in 6 years things can certainly change a lot when it comes to getting a new laptop and then getting used to all these new things on it.

Ahhhh shoes. Being sensible and trying to economise so I haven't bought any for a few weeks and have severe withdrawal symptoms. :(

Moss grows on compacted, poorly drained soil, and often in shady areas too, so push fork tines in a few inches then lean back on the handle to open up the soil. Do this every few inches in the mossy area. Lawn sand helps too. It usually contains iron which moss hates. Don't walk on it for a while though or you'll bring rusty stains into the house. The moss will blacken as it dies, then you just use a lawn rake to clear it (and give yourself a good cardiac workout too ;) ).

Don't cut the grass too short either!
