New Sky Atlantic Channel NOT coming soon to Virgin Media

# 3 February 2011, 18:17 by Cable Forum

Virgin Media Digital TV customers expecting Sky Atlantic to appear, may be disappointed to find out that the channel will not be appearing any time soon on Virgin Media’s EPG. BSkyB chief operating officer, Mike Darcey has apparently said today that his team went to ‘pitch’ their channel to Virgin Media, so far as yet the cable company has yet to declare that they are interested in carrying the channel – though this is more likely that Virgin Media can not agree with BSkyB’s price offer.

Bemused Virgin Media customers have been asking on our forums, if Sky Atlantic would be appearing on Virgin Media Digital TV – The channel launched only on Sky on 1st February and has a mix of US programming to boot and includes an entire HBO back catalogue of TV shows.

Virgin Media TV customers have recently lost some channels such as all Bravo branded channels, Channel Jackpot and Channel One, previously known as Virgin 1 – the loss is due to BSkyB closing down the channels which were previously owned by Virgin Media Television. BSkyB bought the channels above and including Living, last summer in a deal worth about £160 million. Living channels have been re-branded to Sky Living,Sky LivingIt, etc this week.
