Virgin Media plan to lead the race with Olympic sprint king Bolt

# 26 August 2008, 12:11 by Cable Forum

Virgin Media are believed to be interested in signing up Olympic sprint king, Usain Bolt, to front their broadband internet products, especially the yet to be released, 50Mb service. Usain Bolt, made his mark at the Bejing Olympics when he made several stunning and speedy performances on the world stage. He took the 100m title at a world record pace, he then followed it up with another gold and record time in the 200m and yet again in 4 × 100m relay.

Should Virgin Media manage to sign up the Olympic ace, Virgin Media then plan to honour Bolt by using the name ‘Boltband’ for its 50Mb service.

Virgin Media believe that using Usain Bolt to front their fastest broadband product, demonstrates they are leading the race when it comes to broadband speeds and that other ISPs are attempting to ‘catch up’.

Virgin Media are used to using famous people to front their products, celebrities such as; Uma Thurman, Ruby Wax, Samuel L Jackson and singer Mick Hucknall from Simply Red (although a animated version). Have all appeared in various Television adverts.
